PEACHD

PEACHD is a European project focused on preventing cancer before it begins. It works on reducing everyday lifestyle habits that increase cancer risk, such as:

• Smoking

• Drinking alcohol

• Eating unhealthy foods

• Not being physically active enough

The project adapts and tests the WHO–EU BRIEF approach, which is a quick, practical method used by health professionals to talk with people about their lifestyle and support small, positive changes.

PEACHD will design and test large-scale strategies to bring this approach into real healthcare settings. It will be piloted in Czech Republic, Poland, and Spain, with special support for groups who may face more barriers to healthcare, including people with low socioeconomic status, migrants, and Ukrainian refugees.

How PEACHD connects with ELISAH, FILTERED, ShowUp4Health and JA PreventNCD.

With ELISAH:
Both projects help people adopt healthier lifestyles to reduce cancer risk. ELISAH uses a mobile app to guide individuals, while PEACHD brings prevention into healthcare settings through brief advice from professionals.
With FILTERED:
PEACHD focuses on working directly with patients through healthcare services to support behaviour change, while FILTERED focuses on improving policies and collaboration to reduce tobacco, alcohol, and unhealthy diets at a societal level.
With ShowUp4Health:
PEACHD and ShowUp4Health work together by combining healthcare-based interventions with public awareness campaigns, preparing and motivating people to engage with health services.
With JA PreventNCD:
PEACHD contributes to JA PreventNCD’s European-level goals by implementing tested cancer prevention strategies in healthcare, supporting broader efforts to reduce non-communicable diseases.

In short: PEACHD supports cancer prevention through healthcare interventions, ELISAH guides individuals digitally, ShowUp4Health motivates citizens in daily life, FILTERED strengthens policies, and JA PreventNCD links these actions to a European strategy—all working together to reduce cancer risk and promote healthy lifestyles.
